Great, great, great, great, great grandfather's house
Last weekend I went with my 2 sisters, Julie & Alison, and my Aunt Norma and cousin Amy to visit the house of my great, great, great, great, great grandfather Royal Johnson. The house is about 4 miles from where I grew up (and the barn raising site). It used to be an inn in the 1800's and has stayed in the family until about 5 years ago. The new owners are restoring it to its original state. It has a ballroom on the second floor where cotillions were held (there is a fiddlers booth). Royal Johnson's name is written on the ballroom wall as is my great grandmother Grace (who I knew: she died at 95 years of age). Julia's middle name is in honor of Grandma Grace. Checkout the beams in the attic. The house is on the historic register. My Aunt (my father's sister) told many stories of visiting the homestead as a child. Amazing to learn of all the history.
